| Corresponds to an introductory, two-semester course in English composition. Measures the ability to persuade a reader to pursue a specified course of action, using personal knowledge and experience to support the proposal; to analyze and respond appropriately to written texts that present opposing viewpoints, using the Modern Language Association (MLA) style of citation; and to recognize and write about the strengths and weaknesses of a piece of writing.
